How to get music from iPod to iTunes?

June 26th, 2009

Actually one of the most frequently asked question by iPod users is probably ” how to get music from iPod to iTunes”.

Although Apple’s iTunes is good at keeping a computer-based library synchronized to an iPod automatically, or for manually transferring tracks from your computer’s iTunes library onto an iPod, it provides extremely limited functionality for transferring information in the opposite direction-from your iPod to your computer. But the third-party applications including Aniosoft iPod ibackup,iPod to Computer Transfer can make it,transferring iPod’s content to computer.

Aniosoft iPod iBackup enables you to transfer iPod’s music and other content to any storage device and iTunes as well. And both the backup in the storage device can be recovered and restored with no any change and no any risk. And the data in the iTunes is quite in accord with the iPod’s data including its playlists, rating and etc.
So you can make a music transfer from your iPod to the iTunes  in your  laptop or PC with this tool and also make a backup for the ipod’s content somewhere in your laptop as well as backup file  in case of the hard drive crash.

If you want to copy your old iPod to a new computer or laptop, this method is also available for you (See more details in the article “how to transfer music from an old iPod/iTouch/iPhone to a new computer“). And another applicable case is that you want to switch music between two or more iPods such coping your old iPod’s music to your new iPod or sharing your friend’s music stored in his iPod into your iPod.
There is a note that needs your attention, you have to turn off the auto sync of the  iTunes before you can make this transfer.
Here are the guides how it would be transferred:

Step 1, install and run Aniosoft iBackup and plug your iPod to the computer

Step 2,make a music transfer from iPod to iTunes and at the same time you can make a content backup in any storage device as well.

Jailbreaker, think over before you update your iTunes to the new version 8.2

June 26th, 2009

As we already know, Apple released their official iTunes 8.2 ipdate recently. It’s big news for iPod users because this new launch of iTunes 8.2 can be a sign that iPhone OS 3.0 will be released to public soon considering iTunes 8.2 is equipped with support for iPhone OS 3.0. However MuscleNerd from iPhone Dev-Team member suggest not installing it this time if you plan to jailbreak your iPhone. iTunes 8.2 messes up jailbreak stuff! While iTunes 8.2 adds support for iPhone 3.0 godness, it strips iPhone off all the jailbreak exitment! Apple changed some protocols in Mobile Device framwork which result in panic-code amongset the jailbreak community!

“Today’s iTunes 8.2 update changes the way you comuputer talks to the device”. This affects many iPod three party applications like Aniosoft iPod to computer transfer, iTunes transfer and etc when they try to identify what’s connected. But Aniosoft iBackup is proud to be the 1st one in the same-featured softwares with compatibility for iTunes 8.2.

So jailbreaker, for now hold off the update of iTunes 8.2 and use the lower version of iTunes to jailbreak.

And if you have fortunately already made an iTunes 8.2 update, you’ll find that you can’t jailbreak any more. So the best way to this isuue is downgrading iTunes if you want to continue your former accessibilities.

Does your iPhone takes hours to backup on iTunes? Here is how to FIX it

August 12th, 2008

I had been facing this issue from quite sometime now. It takes more than 5-10 mins for iTunes to backup iPhone every time I connect my iPhone to iTunes. I have keep waiting for this to finish and of late, I have been losing all my nerves over this. Last evening I googled and found few solutions for this persistent problem. Let me share these tricks to optimize backup time on iTunes. I am now out of this crazy time consuming bug and I hope one of these tricks does the job for you as well.

If you’re just syncing music, videos, etc, all you need to do is click on the X in the circle where it says, “Backing Up” at the top. It’ll cancel the back-up and proceed with the sync.
But this is not advisable, says MileHighRob - Each time you click the X to abort the back up process you are also risking corrupting your back up file and it actually makes it take much longer to complete a successful backup once you finally decide to allow it to do it.
—————–
When my backups start acting strangely, I always delete the last backup file and wait for the horrendously long time it take for a new back up to complete. After that I’m all set and my backups finish in 1-3 minutes. via everythingicafe

Try this one - Seems to have worked for many:
After connecting your iPhone to your computer;

1. Uncheck the check mark from the “Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected” option in iTunes.
2. Unplug your iPhone and then plug it back in
3. Once iTunes launches again, right click on its name in the devices menu (on the left) and from menu choose “Reset Warnings”
4. Then click Sync in the bottom right hand corner
5. You will then receive a pop-up (see image below). Simply uncheck the “Do not ask me again” box
6. Now you can go back and re-apply the check to the “Automatically sync” option that you removed in Step #1

Next-Generation iPod nano to be Taller?

July 30th, 2008

iLounge reports that the next generation of iPod nano may sport a taller screen, matching the iPhone and iPod touch’s aspect ratio of 1.5:1 and up from the 1.33:1 aspect ratio found in the current iPod nano.

To fit the screen and Click Wheel neatly together, the new nano will adopt a form factor that shifts away from the almost square dimensions of the 2007 third-generation nano back towards the general shape of the first- and second-generation models. As one of our sources noted, it’s a surprise that the new nano will be bigger than the prior model, but the goal appears to be preservation of all of the prior model’s usability while adding a bigger screen, and there aren’t many other ways to accomplish that goal.

A vertically-oriented screen suggests that videos would be viewed with the iPod nano turned sideways, which could mean that an iPhone/iPod touch-like accelerometer would be included in order to allow the device to sense rotation and adjust the display accordingly. Additionally, it remains unclear whether and how the Click Wheel would evolve to remain usable as the iPod nano is rotated.

iLounge’s sources also indicate that a recent rumor of multicolored iPod nanos is “most likely inaccurate” and that each version of the new iPod nano, presumably differing in storage capacity, will be offered in only a single color.

To Make iPhone vers 2.0 Backup Quicker on iTunes!!!

July 25th, 2008

Many people complain about the slow speed vers 2.0 backs up.So do I. So I want to find out what iTunes was doing when it takes nearly 45 mins to do a backup then sync on vers 2.0.

I finally found out it is backing up all the apps you have downloaded every time you sync, which takes for ever!!

The fix is,quoted from a post at Modmyifone, to download all the apps you already have on your iPhone using iTunes, even the ones you have paid for, I promise you it will not charge you again. Once you have done that plug your iPhone in to iTunes and select sync all on the apps.

It no longer has to backup all the files as it has them on ur PC/Mac and therefore does a backup in a matter of minutes!

I have tested this on 3 different iPhones and they’re specific home computers and it has worked on them all!

Just remeber that if a new app comes out to remember to download it on iTunes too!!

I hope this helps you all out there, I know I’m well happy bought it!!

Latest Technology: Moving your iTunes library from PC to Mac

July 25th, 2008

Having bought a new Mac? Don’t know how to sync your iPod to Mac? Well, if you have already have an old PC and have it synced with iTunes, the following tutorial may help!

There’s more than one way to make the switch from PC to Mac and  bring your iTunes Library with you, but here’s a relatively painless method we used recently. We like this technique for its simplicity, however, there are drawbacks. If you’ve invested a lot of time creating custom playlists, adding album art, and rating songs within iTunes, that metadata will not copy over using the instructions outlined below. Power users concerned about transferring every bit of metadata from their old iTunes library will need to take the longer road of exporting and tweaking an iTunes XML file (not covered here). With that warning, here’s a quick method for migrating your iTunes library.

1. Setting the stage
First, make sure you’re running the latest version of iTunes on both your Mac and your PC.
2 . If you have an iPod, make it cross-platform
Just because you’ve brought a Mac into your home, doesn’t mean your old PC is chopped liver. You never know when you may want to sync your iPod back to your PC, just for old time’s sake. This step will allow you to sync your iPod to both your Mac and your PC, without any hassles. To do this, connect your PC-formatted iPod to your Mac. iTunes will launch and present you with an error screen asking if you’d like to erase this iPod and sync it with the iTunes library. Don’t panic. We’re not going to erase your iPod. Take a deep breath and select “Cancel.”

Your iPod’s icon should appear in the left iTunes window pane (blue background). Select the iPod so that the Summary information for your iPod appears in the main window (see below). Check off the box marked “Manually manage music and videos.” By enabling this feature, your iPod can be seen by both Mac and Windows machines without prompting you to erase or overwrite your files.

3. Transfer purchased music to iTunes
While you’ve got your iPod connected to your new Mac, it’s a good time to take advantage of iTunes’ ability to copy purchased files from your iPod into iTunes (if only Apple made it as easy to copy the rest of your music!). We’ll show you how to transfer the rest of your music collection later, but for now, let’s just transfer your purchased songs (if you have any).
Go to the File menu in iTunes and select “Transfer purchases from iPod”. This will trigger iTunes to scan your iPod for purchased songs and add them to your computer’s music library. iTunes may ask you to reenter the Apple ID (e-mail address) and password used for your iTunes store account, in order to verify that the purchased music belongs to you. You may also want to make sure your new computer is authorized to play your previously purchased music by going to the iTunes “Store” menu and selecting “Authorize computer.” With any luck, you’ll be able to find your purchased music in your Mac iTunes music library now.

4. Copying the rest of your music
Method 1: If you happen to have your entire digital music collection stored on your iPod, one quick way to transfer all your files from an iPod into a Mac version of iTunes is to download and use a Mac-only application called Senuti (iTunes spelled backward).
With your iPod connected to your Mac, and the Senuti application open, you should be able to see the contents of your iPod in Senuti’s iTunes-like application window. All you need to do now is select all or part of the songs on your iPod, then hit the copy button in the upper-right corner of Senuti’s application window. After a few minutes of copying, your iPod’s files should now all appear in your Mac’s iTunes music library.
Method 2: If your music collection is larger than what can reasonably fit on your iPod, then you’ll need to copy your PC’s iTunes library directly onto your new computer or onto an external hard drive (you could also connect your PC and Mac together over an Ethernet connection, but that’s another tutorial). Copying your library onto an external hard drive is probably the best option, since it gives you an opportunity to create a backup archive of your music.
To get started, first you’ll want to make sure your PC’s iTunes library is ready to transport. To make sure all your files are accounted for, open up iTunes on your PC and under the “Advanced” menu select “Consolidate library.” This will make sure that all of the music and video files you see in iTunes are collected into one main iTunes library folder on your computer. This step may take seconds or several minutes, depending on how your music and libraries are organized. You’ll also want to go into the iTunes preferences (found in the edit menu) and make sure that both the Advanced tab’s “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder…” boxes are checked (see below).

Next, you’ll need to locate your PC’s iTunes library folder. It should be located in the My Music folder, found in the My Documents folder on your PC’s C:/ drive. Once you’ve found the folder named iTunes, open it up to find the folder called iTunes Music. The iTunes Music folder is the one you’ll want to copy. It contains all your music organized neatly into folders.

At this point, you can either drag the entire iTunes Music folder onto your external hard drive, or you can create a new folder on your external hard drive (name it whatever you want) and selectively drag in just the artists, albums, and songs that you want transferred to your Mac. Copying large libraries can take a long time, so be patient. If you have lots of old podcasts clogging your iTunes library, you may want to delete them from your library before you begin copying.
5. Importing your library onto your Mac
Disconnect your external hard drive from your PC and connect it to your new Mac. Now, launch iTunes on your Mac and under the File menu, select “Add to Library…”.

A window will pop up asking you to locate the files you want to add. Direct it to the iTunes library folder you copied onto the external hard drive and click the big blue “Choose” button.

After a few minutes, your PC’s iTunes files should be available in your Mac’s iTunes library. You may have to spend some time relocating album artwork for some of your old files, but it sure beats burning a spindle full of CDRs to copy your files between computers.
